Title: Reduction of Use of Petroleum Energy Resources by Conversion of Waste Cooking Oils into Diesel Fuel (Phase I)

This P3 project advanced the development of a renewable fuel made from used cooking oils. Several hundred gallons of used cooking oil from nine campus sites and several local restaurants were donated to the project each week for experiments. This research ultimately will lead to more efficient conversion of used cooking oil to biodiesel giving farmers, truckers, and diesel automobile owners a cleaner burning alternative to petroleum-based diesel.
