Title: Biocatalytic polymerization of naturally occurring green
tea flavonoids for cancer therapy
University of Massachusetts - Lowell students will create compounds with promising anti-cancer activity using a novel strategy to polymerize naturally occurring compounds using environmentally friendly methods. In the U.S. alone, one in four deaths is caused by cancer. Ironically, most drugs that are used to treat cancer are created using multiple steps that involve the use of cancer-causing chemicals.
