Title: Power Generation Using Megnetohydrodynamic Generator with a Circulation Flow Driven by Solar-Heat-Induced Natural Convection
University of Arizona students will design and test a novel means of generating electricity using solar heat. The system, called a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) system, creates electricity by flowing a conductive fluid through a permanent magnetic field. The flow is created by heating up the fluid using solar heat on the front side of the generator and cooling it down on the back side. In addition to perfecting a sustainable method of electricity generation, the project will also function as a hands-on educational tool for students.
