The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program is part of EPA's overall program for small businesses. EPA provides funding directly to private companies for environmental research and technology development. The EPA Annual Solicitation includes topics for protecting the Great Lakes (EPA Region 5), Middle America (Region 7), EPA Office of Water and Critical EPA Needs including topics on water and air pollution, solid and hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, nanotechnology, homeland security and more. To introduce the topics in this year's Phase I Solicitation, several regional workshops have been organized. We hope you will attend one of the following workshops:

2008 SBIR/STTR National Spring Conference - The 2008 SBIR/STTR National Spring Conference in Orlando will bring together not only federal program administrators from all of the 11 SBIR participating agencies, but also venture capital and angel investors, secondary market and traditional lenders, university and federal laboratory representatives and other experts who provide assistance with the scale-up of early-stage ventures.
